Greetings (from Sadashige Ueyama to all of you)

Although the new coronavirus infection has moved to Category 5, it has not yet been brought under control. I would like you to be diligent in your daily activities while paying attention to infection control measures. I would also like to express my deepest gratitude for your ongoing understanding and support for my political activities. I will make use of my experience so far, listen to the opinions of the citizens of the prefecture, and strive to make Kagoshima a comfortable place to live.
In the prefectural assembly election held on April 9, the wage gap between SMEs and sole proprietors, which account for 99% of the prefecture, and large companies, as well as the wage gap between large metropolitan areas and rural areas, was corrected. In order to do so, he appealed for the elimination of regional differences in minimum wages and the optimization of wages by industry. It is also essential to support young people and non-regular workers to get married and have children. In order to eliminate anxiety about the future as much as possible, he expressed his determination to make efforts to eliminate childcare waiting lists, enhance children's clubs, and improve the working conditions of staff working there. We will make efforts to promote agriculture, livestock, fisheries and tourism, which are the key industries of Kagoshima Prefecture, and promote the creation of systems for IT and the digital society.
The development of a city using renewable energy that does not rely on nuclear power is an urgent issue. In addition to the efforts to decommission nuclear power plants, the recent large-scale solar and wind power generation is leading to the destruction of the natural environment by deforestation, so the prefecture incorporates the minimum consent of the residents. We will make efforts to increase the convincingness and safety through regulations, etc. We will also promote renewable energies based on regional circulation, such as hydropower, biomass/steam power generation, and ocean current power generation, which do not generate hazardous waste.
I am concerned that the deterrence that the Kishida Cabinet is aiming for by strengthening its military capabilities will only increase tensions with the other country. Rather than preparing for war, we will cooperate with Okinawa Prefecture in peace diplomacy centered on trade and cultural exchanges, and work to enable Kagoshima Prefecture to play an active role in peacebuilding and mutual development in the Asia-Pacific region. .
"We will do our best to resolve these issues." We appreciate your guidance and encouragement.

■ April 1987 (Showa 62)

Joined Kagoshima Prefectural Office
Worked at the Oshima Tsumugi Technical Guidance Center in Kagoshima Prefecture
Authentic Oshima Tsumugi is a nationally designated traditional craft that Kagoshima Prefecture is proud of. It was born on Amami Oshima and has been nurtured and developed by the rich nature and craftsmanship. However, in order not to let Oshima Tsumugi die out, we are working with the Honba Oshima Tsumugi Textile Cooperative Association to pass on the techniques and seek policies that will lead to the development of successors to traditional crafts.

■ April 1990 (Heisei 2)

Worked at Kagoshima Prefectural Industrial Technology Center Food Industry Department

I worked in a laboratory that handled fermented foods such as shochu, miso, soy sauce, and vinegar. Potato shochu, which was developed in Kagoshima and Miyazaki, has developed new technologies such as potato varieties, types of koji, and distillation methods, and the number of light and easy-to-drink potato shochu has increased. On Amami Oshima, there are many brands of brown sugar shochu made from sugar cane. Awamori, sake, wine, and all kinds of "alcoholic drinks" are loved.

■ April 1993 (Heisei 5)

Self-government labor Kagoshima Prefecture headquarters full-time (youth manager)

Jikoro is a labor union composed of local government workers such as prefectures and municipalities. Creating an environment where workers can work energetically is essential for social development. A society that is kind to women, children, and people with disabilities will lead to a society that is kind to adults as well. We will continue to work toward a diverse society that accepts each other.

■ April 1995 (Heisei 7)

Kagoshima Prefecture Kawauchi Public Health Center Sanitation Section Food Hygiene Section

I was assigned to work on food sanitation, dealing with food-related health hazards such as food poisoning and contamination. The three principles of food poisoning prevention are to "do not bring in", "do not spread", and "kill" pathogens such as bacteria and viruses. Bacteria and viruses are spread by human hands. After all, good hygienic hand washing is the key to infection prevention.

■ April 1998 (Heisei 10)

Kagoshima Prefectural Staff Labor Union Full-time Officer

During the Koizumi Cabinet era, Kagoshima Prefecture fell into financial difficulties due to the reduction of local allocation tax and the influence of box-shaped administration that exceeded their capacity, and wage cuts for prefectural officials were implemented for nine and a half years. The number of employees has also decreased sharply due to the conversion of branch offices to general offices and the outsourcing of field work to the private sector. Today, the number of weeds cut down on roads has decreased, and the decline in prefectural services has become noticeable. In order to improve the livelihoods of the citizens of the prefecture and protect the properties of the citizens of the prefecture, we will ask the national and prefectural governments to secure the necessary budgets for personnel costs, maintenance costs, and management costs.

Going forward, I will continue to visit the actual situations and requests of organizations and make efforts to convey the voices of those concerned to the government.

In the prefectural assembly election held on April 9, 2023, I was elected for a third term. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who supported us. I will continue to do my best to make Kagoshima a comfortable place to live.
Currently, as the chairman of the volunteer activity group "Ikiiki Sakamikai" in the Sakamotodai Elementary School District, I conduct cleanup activities once a month from the vicinity of the commercial high school entrance to the Sakamoto Post Office on Prefectural Route 25 Kagoshima Gamo Line. Masu. During the last week of summer vacation, we are doing cleanup activities at Sakamotodai Elementary School.
I also belong to two groups of the grand golf team in Tamari Danchi, and I've been sweating from early morning as long as time permits.
The prefectural association and groups in the northern region also work hard at park golf several times a year, using the park golf course maintained in the health forest as the venue.
Although there are few members, I am the chairman of the "Sakadai Table Tennis Pickle Club" and play table tennis and pickleball every Thursday evening at the gymnasium of Sakamotodai Elementary School. We are currently looking for members.
I also belong to the Ishiki branch of the Kagoshima prefectural probation chairperson, and conduct rehabilitation activities in the community to support the recovery of people who have committed crimes or delinquency so that they will not commit crimes again.
I have been playing soccer since I was a boy, and I am still a member of the Japan Football Association, and I am also the manager of a soccer team (I.FC Kagoshima) that gathered volunteers. I sometimes referee.
As a director of the Kagoshima Prefectural Institute for Local Autonomy, I conduct surveys and research on local autonomy, current affairs, political issues, etc. occurring in the prefecture, prepare regular reports, and contribute to the establishment of local autonomy in Kagoshima and a region rich in individuality. We contribute to the creation of society.

Kagoshima Prefecture is 600 kilometers north to south, and Yakushima and Amami Oshima Islands, which have been certified as World Natural Heritage Sites, are fascinated by the beauty of the natural scenery and the biota including many endemic and rare species. In Kinko Bay, the active volcano Sakurajima and the blue sky evoke emotions. There are plenty of sources with different spring qualities, so you can easily relax in the hot springs.

You can feel the history just by walking through the samurai residences. Black pork, black beef, satsuma chicken, the world's largest Sakurajima radish, and the world's smallest Sakurajima komikan are also our pride.

There are also many brands of distilled shochu, so you can enjoy it while feeling the difference in taste. You can also enjoy seafood such as silver-striped round herring, spiny lobster, and amberjack. We recommend that you come and see, touch and experience Kagoshima Prefecture!
